Refractory Knowledge
Introduction Of Silica Brick
Silica brick is an acidic refractory which is composed of tridymite, cristobalite, a small amount of residual quartz and glass phase, and SiO2 content is more than 94%. The raw material is silicon in which the SiO2 is higher, its refractoriness is higher. It is made by adding mineralizer (such as iron scales, the lime milk) and binder (such as molasses, sulfite pulp waste liquid), then through kneading, forming, drying, firing process. The most harmful impurities are Al2O3, K2O, Na2O and so on, which seriously reduce the refractoriness of silica brick.
Silica brick has the properties of high purity, long service life, good thermal conductivity, high refractoriness under load, and good creep resistance. With the properties, it can be widely used in coke oven, hot blast furnace, glass furnace and carbon furnace. In glass industry, it is mainly employed to build the doghouse crown, suspended wall of channel, top crown and inlet sealing. In metallurgy industry, it is adopted as the nozzle brick.
