Silica Refractory Mortar

Silica refractory mortar, also called joint material, is a type of monolithic refractory formulated with silica refractories, additives and binders in a certain portion. It is mainly used as coating materials and joint materials in coke oven, glass furnaces, acid steel-making furnaces and other thermal devices.

When used as joint materials, its quality has a great impact on the quality of masonry. It can adjust the size error of bricks and irregular shapes to make the masonry neat and form a strong and tight whole, balance the load and resist external damage and prevent the intrusion of gas and molten liquid.
 
When used as coating materials, its quality has a great impact on whether the protective layer can fulfill the utility of lower layer and prolong its service life. Thus, the mortar is required to have good flowability, plasticity, good adhesion and high-temperature volume stability.
 
According to the application and physical and chemical properties, silica refractory mortars can be divided into 7 brands: GNR-94, GNJ-91, GNJ-94, GNB-94, GNB-96, GNCr92 and GNG-94. G and N are the first letters of guizhi and nijiang, which are the Chinese names of silica and mortar. R, J, B and G represent the first letters of refenglu, jiaolu, bolirongyao and gere, which are the Chinese names of hot stove, coke oven, glass furnace and insulation.
