Advantages Of Waste Bricks For The Production Of Silica Bricks

Silica brick is mainly used in the partition wall of the carbonization chamber and combustion chamber, the regenerators and sediment chamber of steelmaking open hearths, soaking furnace, glass furnace and the crown and other load-bearing parts of the ceramic kilns. It is also use in the high-temperature load-bearing parts of the hot stove and the roof of acid open hearth furnaces. 

When producing silica bricks, some waste silica bricks are added into the batch materials. This can reduce the expansion and stress generated during the firing of silica refractory products and the potential of cracks to improve the rate of finished products. 

 

The addition amount of the waste silica brick is related to the shapes of the bricks. For inregular bricks less than 25kg, 20% is added; for inregular bricks more than 25kg, 30% is added; for special bricks, 30% is added. 

 

Although the addition of waste silica bricks has many advantages, excessive waste bricks will reduce the refractoriness and mechanical strength of silica products and increase the porosity. Therefore, the addition amount should be proper.
